Do we recognize the value in the word of God? The Bible claims to be the inspired word of God. Paul affirmed this to the young preacher Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (ESV). That’s right, scripture is straight from God’s own mouth. These men received the actual thoughts and will of God, recording them to be read by all future mankind. In this passage to Timothy, we also learn the purpose of His inspired word: for teaching, reproof or conviction, correcting, for training in righteousness. What results are these to achieve? Paul states here to Timothy, the inspired word of God makes a man complete. This means that the bible gives us God’s answers to our problems, difficulties, or decisions we have in life. Given this great truth, it would certainly lead us to want to learn more of what is written in the Bible. With such great value, it deserves to be treated with great value.
